Frequently Asked Questions:

When will I receive my Freshers Pack?

Your pack will be delivered at the beginning of September. If your fresher's event is before September, please contact us and we will endeavor to get one to you earlier.

Who can order a Fresher's pack

Any member or group of the Liberal Democrats can order a pack.

Is there a charge for Fresher's packs?

For LDYS members there is no charge for the fresher's packs. For non-members we ask for a £5 donation to cover postage costs.

Who are the Fresher's packs aimed at?

Despite the name, the fresher's packs are not solely intended for students. The content is useful for youth campaigning of all types.

How much material is in the Fresher's packs?

The packs are large enough to stock a good sized student group for the fresher's season, and so contain enough for most groups and individuals.

I need more material than is in the pack, how do I get some?

More material is available by contacting the LDYS office. Additional materials attract a small cost, please contact us for the prices.

I haven't got enough people to man the stall/run the event - what do I do?

Be sure to advertise your event with your local party and on sites such as flocktogether. If in doubt, please contact us and we will try and put you in contact with people who are available.

What do I do if the cost of having a fresher's stall is too expensive?

Contact all your local elected persons and local parties for assistance. If one group won't fund the whole amount, see if you can get several people to share the cost.

The University does not allow political groups - how do we run a freshers campaign?

Leaflet all the student accommodation you have access to and hold an event off campus. An evening event such as 'Pizza & Politics' has proved very successful in the past.

I've never run a fresher's event before - is there training available?

LDYS will be running freshers training events over the summer – keep your eyes peeled for the adverts!
